A common theme in our shop is our love & respect for artists & for writers, both titles of which apply to every member of our shop currently. Our love of the written word harkens back to the traditional values associated with its humble beginnings, & to this end we have come to admire the often unforgiving yet stunning quality of writing with the use of quill pen & ink. The fascination it conjures can help anyone to appreciate the importance of it. This piece is yet another installment with which we have hoped to pay homage to this particular, timeless writing utensil. The quill feather's image has been carefully burn-etched by hand into the face of this wall scone, which was created using recycled pine wood. It has been stained with a hearty shade of English chestnut that makes it ideal for capturing the quiet reflection common to many of us during the autumnal months. Its overall surface has been given a coat of semi-gloss poly that helps to protect it from moisture & wear & tear. When a candle is nestled into it & lit, the surface glitters. It's perfect for writers, readers, fans of the written language & even those who simply want to appreciate the natural beauty of feathers. It is well-balanced, lending it the potential to sit on a mantel, table, or shelf to be admired. A saw-tooth hanger will be affixed to the back for those who would prefer to hang it on their wall & truly inspire thoughts of sconces that were more common back in the days when quills & ink wells were the go-to technology for all calligraphy.
