Sea Grape Silk Pillow Cover - Beige

This pillow was inspired by the leaves of the Sea Grape, a tree which grows in the tropics. The leaves start out green with red veins, & then change to yellow & finally red. I love the contrasting colors of the veins of the leaves. The pillow was created using the serti technique of drawing in resist lines & then adding color. To design the pillow cover, I started out with a sketch, which I then traced onto the scarf using gutta. I used colored gutta to draw the veins of the leaves. I used the colors of an actual plant as a guide, & painted in the leaves next. The background is pale yellow. Next, after the scarf dried for 24 hours, I heat-set it, then washed it to remove the extra paint & gutta, & ironed it.
