Soft mandala, textil wall decoration, Description: This was one of the most labour-intensive ideas that came to my mind! Work on it took nearly two months & started from weaving a woolen base on a wooden frame, which served as a hoop to stiffen the fabric. For this purpose, I selected yarns in earthy colours: brown, red, many shades of green & grey, in some places transitioning to steel grey colours of the cloudy sky. The fabric created in this way became the background on which another parts were gradually sewn on. First the outer circle & then subsequent decorations towards the centre of the mandala. Some of them convex & bigger, others very tiny & visible only up close, together gave an interesting effect, both from a far & very close perspective. I supplemented the whole with a soft fabric frame & neatly lined the reverse side with another fabric. The mandala is light, but not frail. Internal stiffeners make it fit well against the wall, & two handles will allow you to attach this wall decoration using tiny, nearly invisible nails. The mandala is 100% handmade. Mandala dimensions: 63 x 63 cm. Hang the mandala indoors, preferably not in a sunny place, away from sources of fire or heat. Cleaning (if necessary) only with a damp cloth, after removing dust by gentle tapping using a hand or dust beater. Do not machine wash, air-dry hung up. The soft mandala was made in one unique copy. Designed & crafted by: Alina Tyro-Niezgoda. Story: What if...? transfer the longing for the calmness of meditation & the soothing symmetry of mandala into the wall of your flat, in the form of a soft fabric image... Other home decorations: https://etsy.me/2x9MfX9 Everything starts with a WHAT IF...?. This first, sudden idea stalks you until you finally give it some thought. Then you think, visualise & manupulate your idea; try to look into every nook & cranny. To do, or not to do...?. Then you sketch, trace out the details, set the measurements. Then you make your first attempt, draw conclusions, modify & refine your project. Finally, you search, match, try out, try on. Then you order, buy, collect, try out again. You check other possibilities, buy again, try out again. You gather. & plan. & finally there comes a day when you begin... Depending on the plan: you sew, spin, weave, embroider. Or you cut, sand, solder... Piece by piece, inch after inch, thousands tiny beads sewn one after another, yards of yarn forced into cooperation, fractions of inches sanded to metallic dust. Sometimes you botch up. Then you curse... & start over. You turn on the lights when it's getting darker only to turn it off again just a moment later, when the birds are welcoming a new day right behind the window. & then another. & yet another. Just before going to bed you think of new steps, a plan for the next day, you set out goals, as every second is at a premium. You think about the user. Will they understand? Will they look closely? Will they slide their fingers to feel the
