This Impressionist art piece is inspired by a drive through Lancaster County in the spring. The new grass is bright green & yellow buttercups dot the countryside. There is a sparkle & energy in the new growth that I captured by using metallic threads, & yellow 'confetti'. The bright colors contrast with the black stitching which gives definition to the scene; hills, trees & fencing. Scattered weeds & grasses add realism to the abstract piece. The green fabric that the quilt is built on is hand painted fabric. This small quilt measures 10 inches X 10 inches square. There is a pocket or sash on the back side to hang with a rod. The binding is done in the traditional manner of mitering corners & hand stitching in place on the back side. There is a glimmer or shimmer to the piece that photography does not do justice to.
