I use top of the line 9 ply, 1/2 inch thick Russian Baltic birch wood which is regarded as furniture quality wood & must be purchased from a specialty shop dealing in hardwoods.. This thickness gives a nice dimensional look to a wall, in addition to being very sturdy without being too heavy. If you were to look on the side you will see 9 layers of hardwood. This wood I use is also in line with California's strict emissions codes. This is the highest grade wood for name cut outs. There is a much cheaper version of wood & this can be under the name birch plywood. Because of its low quality & it being so fragile & especially flimsy I do not use this wood. With this wood you will see three layers on the side & will only get two layers of very thin birch & a cheap middle filler which makes up most of this wood type. This type of wood can be found at local big box stores. MDF is another low end alternative which is very fragile due to its cheap make up. I would not even consider this wood. With doing this for 11 years & knowing the industry very well I am educated on what quality wood looks like & what thickness gives the best look. If you were to compare Russian Baltic Birch to Birch plywood wood or MDF there is a vast difference. FINISHES - I can use paint with a glitter finish which looks gorgeous! This has a look of crushed DIAMONDS over the top. Also available are colored glitters. Not all glitter gives the same look, there are many techniques. The technique & type of glitter we use is gorgeous, customers love our look! I charge per letter this way there is NO LIMIT ON WIDTH (length). First letter will be capital fancy script. The rest of the name will be lowercase connected fancy script.
