The blue & white centre pieces of each Shoreline Ceramics hanging decoration are made from terracotta clay which, once cut & modelled into shape, are carefully smoothed to soften & round the edges as if it had been worn down by the action of the sea. After being left to dry thoroughly, the pieces are bisque fired & glazed with a traditional majolica-style Tin white glaze & hand painted with of blue cobalt oxide. They then head back to the kiln for a second firing. Shoreline Ceramics wall pieces are assembled using wire & a combination of beads & buttons (some of which are recycled & some I make myself by hand), rusty remnants & / or driftwood gathered from the shoreline. The simple wire loop makes them incredibly easy to hang on any nail or hook. Every Shoreline Ceramics item is made to be unique & is carefully hand crafted. Glaze density, depth of colour & design will vary & of course, no two pieces of driftwood will ever be the same! Personally, I love the fact that each piece is so individual, but please do just bear this in mind when making your purchase.
