Made from reclaimed pallet wood Including all weather marks, Nail Holes, the odd nail head etc. Each piece produced will be entirely unique due to the natural qualities & differences of wood, as well as being completely hand crafted. Photographs of the actual piece you will receive are available upon request. I use ancient Japanese technique known as ''Shou Sugi Ban'' to create the beautiful charred patina on the wood. Once carved & complete the entire surface is waxed with natural beeswax & burnished to give it's lustre shine. Supplied with natural sisal hanging rope as pictured. Deeply Carved with the well known Icelandic Magical Stave :- The Vegvisr If this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known. Much is disputed & argued over this Icelandic stave.. & it is often & mistakenly referred to as a 'Viking compass' What we know for sure about the Vegvisir is that it is a, or collection of 'Galdrastafir' - Icelandic & Norse staves - inscribed or painted magical signs or symbols usually designed to control the elements, steer developments & give protection. On its own the word stafr in Icelandic also means a letter (of the alphabet) or character whilst also purports to lore or wisdom. Much less an actual 'Compass' - The Vegvisir incorporates 8 different 'charms' of protection; thus the overall stave becomes one suitable to defend against many evils or obstacles that might cause one to lose one's foothold on the journey of life..
