It's woodburned surface is based on a historic geometric arabesque pattern found on the Dado panel, a 15th century Mamluk wall panel from Egypt. This pattern is based on five & ten-pointed star patterns & similar designs often covered the interior of mosques, tombs, & palace complexes. The same pattern has been transferred to this decorative wall hanging & is a reflection of the high tastes of 15th century Cairo.
