Hand sewn cushion cover made from a piece of Morris & Co's Bachelors Button linen union piped in a rust cotton. Bachelors Button was originally designed by Morris in 1892. The design is a stylised depiction of cornflowers known in folklore as Bachelors Buttons as they were worn by young men in love. ...inspired by an archive pattern book with Bachelors Button on the cover, we're proud to say this design was the catalyst for Ben Pentreath's Queen Square Collection. Given a modern twist & an undeniable vibrancy, dramatic swirling leaves painted in the style of a medieval fresco coil amongst this show stopper of a fabric. ( quote from the Morris website ) There is a choice of fabrics available for the reverse & all the seams have been double sewn & four stitched overlocked for strength.
