Vinyl (Such as Banners, Canopies, flags, etc.) Plastic Fiberglass (Must be painted with a smooth, glossy enamel.) Wood (Must be painted with a smooth, glossy enamel.) Other Painted Surfaces (Paint must be smooth & glossy, vinyl will not stick to oxidized, faded, or peeling paint) Not Recommended Surfaces Cement Raw Lumber Oxidized or faded paint Peeling paint Rubber Raw Metals Oily Surfaces These lists are not comprehensive & there are other acceptable & unacceptable substrates than those listed above. Again, when in doubt, apply the rule that states vinyl will generally adhere well to hard, smooth, glossy & clean surfaces. DIFFERENCES in MATTE & GLOSS VINYL Gloss vinyl has a glossy finish & matte vinyl has a flat finish. As a general rule, matte is for indoor use & gloss is for outdoor use. You can use matte vinyl outdoors, but it will not stick as long as gloss vinyl, & you can use gloss vinyl indoors but it has a sticker adhesive backing & may be harder to remove from walls or other painted surfaces.
