Buddha from Helg, made of patinated brass. A beautiful reproduction of the find from Helg. 8.5 cm tall 5.7 cm wide The Buddha is sitting on a throne shaped as a double lotus; on his forehead, a third eye. The statue was discovered in Scandinavia, however it was most likely made in the late 400s to early 500s in the Swat Valley on the border between modern-day Afghanistan & Pakistan. It was probably brought to the northern parts of Europe via trade along the Silk Roads. The historical Silk Roads were a series of overlapping trade routes, networks & communities spanning parts of Asia, Africa & Europe. Active for nearly two millennia between the second century BC & the 15th century AD, the roads created trade opportunities from as far east as China & Japan, to as far west as Scandinavia & Britain. The name 'Silk Roads' is taken from the highly sought after Chinese textile. Brass Viking Buddha Statue Helg Find Reproduction
