'The Open Window, Collioure' (1905) by Henri Matisse exemplifies the Fauvism movement with its vibrant, non-naturalistic colour palette and bold, expressive brushstrokes. Painted during a summer in the French Mediterranean town of Collioure, it depicts a view from a window overlooking a bustling harbour with sailboats. Matisse was greatly influenced by the Post-Impressionists, Gauguin, Cezanne and Van Gogh and was an ardent admirer of Japanese art and motifs. He developed his style using areas of flat, brilliant and often unnatural colour and invariably outlined his forms in a manner similar to Van Gogh. Presented in a premium box frame with a sleek black grain finish, along with a gallery-finished mount and glass. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
