As seen in REAL SIMPLE magazine! in 1893 a Dental Surgeon turned Industrial Designer introduced lamps in this style at the Chicago Worlds Fair. They were a great success, & became an industrial standard for the next fifty years. The style has staged a comeback recently - originals are highly sought after & several modern versions are now being produced! If you are looking for a boom lamp with reach, this is the model for you! As pictured the 90 degree brass pole arm is 18 long & the brass drop arm is 24 long. The joints are solid brass & allow the lamp to articulate fully. The socket is brand new, solid brass, & U.L. rated. It features a key-style rotary switch to turn the lamp on & off. The 10 flat shade has a black porcelain finish on the top, bright white on the bottom. The plug-in versions (pictured) are wired with 12 feet (total) of twisted black cloth covered cord. They accept standard light bulbs (E26 socket) & are equipped with a high quality polarized phenolic repro plugs. The socket & wire are rated for 240V, so this light will work internationally with a change of plug or adapter. The hardwire versions come with a 5 wide x 1 deep cylindrical brass wall plate. Cord routing is slightly different than pictured for hardwire, but it still has the large exposed loop of cord between the arms. The dimmer versions are built with a dimmer insert inside the socket. They feature a knurled brass knob instead of the key-style knob pictured. The inserts are rated for US 120V supply only - they will not work with 240V. A light bulb is not included unless you are located in California (California orders ship with a CFL bulb.)
