No.11 - Trendy & Rustic Handcrafted Sideboard/Side Table Using Repurposed Reclaimed Wood

No.11 of my Strip-wood series This sideboard combines both reclaimed wood & modern materials. It has 6 doors & 6 drawers,all fitted with high end push to open fixings by Blum. We actually made this sideboard as a showpiece for a furniture / trade show & now that the exhibition is finished we would like to send it off to a new home. That's why this piece is sold as/is. & ready to ship. The piece is currently fitted with retro midcentury hairpin legs but if you wish, changing legs is still possible, but that will add 2 days to the shipping date. This sideboard is an excellent addition to any modern home craving for some authenticity & warmth from a natural material. We produced this piece using elements of weathered wood which was formerly used on a building site. Natural ageing over time has beautifully weathered the wood providing the rustic textures pictured. The colours, scars & the traces of time in the material show the story of the old wood. Apart from cutting the modern strip shapes to add to the functionality of the piece of furniture, we have tried to interfere with the surface of the wood as little as possible in order to preserve the natural beauty, structure & different shades of the wood. This piece is part of a collection we called 'the stripwood series' in which we play on the tension between reclaimed & new materials. We find it particularly interesting to use the scarred & attacked surfaces of used wood & force them to fit into a modern groomed framework but without diminishing the unique character of the material.
