A powerful picture of my childhood memories in Mykonos. The white house of my beloved grandmother popping up among the green prickly pears. These exotic cactus sprouted everywhere in the fields & between the dry stones. The prickly pears invite you to paint them & take pictures of them. Their green barbed leaves contrast with the orange of the prickly pear. Its rind is full of tiny thorns, while its flesh is juicy sweet & tasty & full of hard seeds. It symbolizes people who are unapproachable & thorny outside while their hearts are soft & caring from inside. One or more Prickly pears can decorate pretty much any corner of our home because ithey add sun & color to any style of decoration. It is an unexpected & impressive gift for all occasions & every season. The trip of every single ceramic fruit I make starts when a piece of clay, wrapped in my hands, ends up into an earthenware clay, shaped according to the fruit that I am about to make. For some particular fruit I use a mold also made by myself. in the creative process the protagonists are the four elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water). I mix the water & the earth (clay) & I shape it into the desired fruit earthenware clay. Then I let it dry naturally in the air before I put it in a high temperature oven (1040o C - F 1832) & alow the fire to make it hard & durable. I get inspired by nature around me, with the colors alternating through their times from the mystery that the fruits hide & their journey through time from one end of the earth to another. To make my fruits & nuts look realistic as they were in nature was a real challenge for me. in their skin hide incredible colors that they gain throughout their life on the branch. All the fruits I make are realistic with their own story & their own symbolism. We can offer them as a unique & impressive gift, but at the same time very personal which will come to accompany our transformations in every occasion & moment of our lives. What makes my ceramics unique is that they are all handmade & that for some of them I use molds also made by myself. Finally I also offer you a great variety in dimensions & shades.
