Woven entirely from natural bamboo, the open lattice shade has the warm, organic appearance associated with rattan & wicker pendant lights while retaining the lightweight, flexible character of traditional Thai bamboo craft. Light passes through the open weave to create a soft patterned glow, making the shade particularly suited to relaxed bohemian, coastal, tropical, rustic & natural interiors. Use it above a dining table or kitchen island, beside a bed, or as statement lighting in living rooms, restaurants, cafs & hotels. The unusual flexible construction also allows you to change its shape. Keep the basket in its natural tall, elongated form or gently compress it into a wider rounded shade. A supplied internal string can be used to hold your chosen shape. NATURAL WOVEN LIGHTING Although its warm woven appearance is similar to rattan or wicker lighting, this lamp is made from natural bamboo. The shade is inspired by traditional Thai fishing baskets, whose ingenious open construction has been woven by hand throughout Thailand & Southeast Asia for generations. Every basket is individually handwoven, giving each lamp subtle differences in color, texture, weave & shape. SIZES As every basket is handmade, measurements vary slightly. PLUG-IN SWITCH Plug-in versions do not include an inline switch as standard & are switched at the wall socket. An inline switch can be added to black or white cable by request. Simply let us know where on the cable you would like it positioned. Due to its thickness, an inline switch cannot be fitted directly to the natural rope-style cable. HANDMADE CHARACTER Every shade is individually woven by hand from natural bamboo. Small variations in color, weave, dimensions & shape are part of the handmade character of the lamp rather than imperfections. Occasional irregularities or slightly frayed bamboo strands can occur naturally with this style of handwoven construction. The shade may be flattened for shipping.
