A rolling abacus rattle toy handmade from solid beech wood. Each abacus features twenty-five moving pieces in a mix of beech wood & smooth silicone which can be completely customised to your colour choices. Our abacus' are perfect for babies who are developing their grasp, the wooden dowels allow babies to hold onto the toy as they explore the movement & colours. The gentle sounds of the wooden pieces create a soft rattle when the toy is moved. It can be easily rolled along the floor to encourage baby to reach for it & is perfect for tummy time too! As baby gets older you can use the toy as a mini-abacus learning to count from 1-5 & higher. It's a great tool for learning colours too, making it the perfect piece to grow with your child. Customising your toy: Each abacus comes with fifteen silicone pieces & ten wooden pieces. We have twenty-nine silicone colours to choose from & four colours for the wooden pieces. The two end pieces are finished in beech as standard. You can choose from four different layout designs from the following; 1. One colour (all silicone pieces are the same colour on all five dowels) 2. Two colours (silicone pieces interchange in a pattern (e.g. blush/white/blush) using two colours) 3. Three colours (silicone pieces interchange in a pattern (e.g. sage/blush/buttermilk) using three colours) 4. Five colours (each dowel contains one different silicone colour) For the wooden pieces you can choose from beech, oak, cherry or walnut. All beads will be the same colour. We use a natural oil/wax blend to colour the wooden pieces which is both food-safe & certified toy safe. This is the same finish we use on all of our wooden toys as it helps to protect the wood & help prevent it from drying out or cracking. Each wood piece is unique so wood grain may vary. Rattles measure approximately 17cm tall by 8cm in diameter. Safety Our rolling abacus rattles are to be used under adult supervision. Whilst our toy has been tested for use by children of all ages, the recommended age we give for first use is between 4-6 months+ depending on your child's milestones. We would advise that the rolling element of the toy is first used as a floor time activity for babies unable to sit unaided & the rattling element is used when babies can hold onto the toy whilst sitting. Silicone & wood pieces measure approx 23mm. The silicone used is made from high quality food grade silicone, which is BPA, Phthalate & PVC free. Our silicone pieces have been independently lab tested to EN71-1:3 & the finished toy to EN71-1:2 as well as passing acoustics testing for the rattle sound. Wood elements are finished with a natural wax/oil blend which we hold EN71-3 certificates for. This toy is fully CE certified. Each toy is assembled by hand & thoroughly inspected before leaving us. We use a non-toxic food safe glue to fix the dowels in place, which are deeply embedded in the wooden base. Please inspect before each & every use & discard immediately if damaged.
