strapwork Thistle

This relief carving is a replica of a fragment of a Scottish strapwork thistle chimney piece from 1480. This replica is carved in 100 year old, reclaimed, quarter sawn English Oak. It has been carved using traditional hand tools & techniques, just as the original would have been produced. No power tools were used; this was all done using historically accurate hand tools. The carving can be free standing or hung (mounting brackets are attached on either side). It is 16.5 x 8.25 x 2. Included with the carving is Jared's hand-drawn plan sketching out the carving.
