Antique Oak Hearth/Fender Foot Stool Bench Solid Frame Reupholstered

This beautiful piece has a long history. Being a Hearth Stool, it would have been used as a resting place in front of an open fire or close to a range or grate. The timber elements are in wonderful condition. Its clearly been well looked after. I have reupholstered it using an iLiv fabric in a deeply plush carmine. The fabric is of an Art Nouveau design & is a chenille. It has an eye catching shine in certain light which adds to is lustrousness & I think really suits this piece. The deeply cushioned pad is thick & supportive & has been treated to a new, fire retardant lining. I havnt done anything to the woodwork other than apply some beeswax & polish to bring out the natural beauty of the oak. I aim to source / rescue quality furniture that just needs a bit of tlc to restore them to their former glory. I only use high end fabrics to give a bespoke quality feel to each piece. Using such fabrics always enhances the design & makes the whole process so enjoyable for me to work with & of course, for you to enjoy. NOTE. in order to comply with British Fire Safety Regulations 1988, all my re-upholstered furniture manufactured after 1st January1950 is re-upholstered using fire retardant material, or contains fire retardant linings such as barrier cloth or wool as a liner / padding.
