Ole Glerup is a very talented craftsman who has been making these exceptionally unique ceramic lamps for 30 years. Each piece is stoneware, so very solid & resistant to temperature extremes & knocks, & is slowly & painstakingly hand crafted so that every lamp is a one-off piece. They are carefully designed in such a way that you never actually see the light source, the bulb, & yet the lamp gives a wonderful ethereal glow & a very cosy ambient light. This is fundamental to Ole's design & comes from a Scandinavian design tradition of this type of indirect lighting, most notably from the designer Poul Henningsen (PH). Unlit, they are stunning sculptures, a wonderful pottery creation that has been fired, colored, & then re fired. Lit, they take on a completely different form. You won't find anything as unusual & with such attention to detail from any other Danish designer working in this field. This particular lamp is 21cm/8.25 tall & 15.5cm/6.25 in diameter, & is a beautiful rustic yellowy green color. The lamp weighs just under 2 kilos & can be hung from a ceiling hook anywhere in the house & will make any area fantastically cosy with its diffused subtle light.
