Skeletal Bird Lady - One Of A Kind, Ceramic Sculpture

I made this in my ceramics class while still learning the ropes & experimenting with stuff. I really wish I had spent more time on the legs but I think the detail on the head pulls it back together to be a pretty good piece. I used an under glaze with no clear glaze over it to give it the dark stain. This one was fully fired in a school studio & is solid earthenware so it can stay outside although the color might get messed up. I can't really remember what I was feeling at the time or why I made this. I remember I thought I was really cool & pushing the envelope by sculpting the bapps. I guess I wanted to create a dead bird lady with a decaying bird skull connected to a lady's body, its sorta like a demon I guess but I never thought of it on those terms. Maybe I thought the naturally singing bird-like women around me in my class were all dead inside & I wanted to express that misery for them. I'm not sure, that's completely in retrospect & is probably only a portion of why I felt I needed to make her. Skeletal Bird Lady - One Of A Kind, Ceramic Sculpture
