Whittled Driftwood Best Man Figurine - Kipple Carvings Series

One of a series of seven wooden men I created for my exhibition Kipple Carvings & Crosses, on Nesodden in Norway, February 2016. The whole series was made with freely whittling a piece of driftwood, into a character, & usually a feeling of the type of person would emerge, through the grain of the wood or how accidental cuts turned out. This one reminded me of the cover of a book I borrowed from the library which was called The BEST Best Man. A 1970s book giving advice on how to handle the scary job of being a best man. The cover depicted a typical 70's fellow with blue suit, wide collars & a slightly worse for wear expression. A good gift to give your best man for being great!
