Ceramic Doll Hand Wall Art Red Bird Sculpture in Celadon Frame

Inspired from silhouette portraits, I have created these 3D doll hand portraits. The hands reach from beyond the confines of their decorative frames to befriend you. The creepy hand reaches out for signs of life & is greeted with a visit from a little red bird. The bird rests on the chubby little hand, free to come & go. This doll hand that calls from within the center of the frame is made from white earthenware clay & fired to cone 04. I use various molds & press the clay into them. This technique renders the surface of the clay with a cracked & antiqued look. I then take the random components & assemble them. I use a variety of under glazes & glazes. The frame is a minty celadon & the bird a crimson red. Due to the handmade nature, each one will vary slightly in size & color. 5 inches X 4 inches X 2.5 Inches Wire attached for hanging.
