Wood Padlock, Working, Item 8

This is the last of the glued laminate style warded padlocks, made several years ago. Needs a good home! This is a completely wooden, Working Padlock, & is #8 in a series of 9, all different. Overall height is 8 inches, body is 4-1/2 wide by 2 inches deep & 3-3/4 inches high. A quarter turn of the key moves aside the wood springs inside, releasing the shackle to lift & rotate. The shackle is Poplar, top body layer is Bocote, then White Pine, White Oak, Padauk & a Walnut bottom. The key insert is also Padauk. Hand made key is Bocote. The Walnut is taken from a local tree cut down 5 or 6 years ago & has been sitting in the barn waiting for the right project. I chose this piece for it's character, rather than the more common solid brown Walnut coloring. A crystalline wax polish is applied last & hand rubbed to a clear durable finish.
