The crewel embroidery on these cushions is famous as Kashmiri Aari work after the pen like needle called Aari that is preferred by these artisans. in Kashmir, this art form is also known as Zalakdozi & is one of India's older embroidery forms, prevalent since at least the 12th century. The thread used for the embroidery is 100% wool & the base & back is a sturdy canvas made of 100% cotton. These are sturdy cushion covers that can last for decades.
