Here we have a throw/blanket that is soft & cosy for the cold months. The yarn I used is smooth in texture, with a wool content of 30% & premium acrylic 70%. This means the blanket is both warm & machine washable - which is always a bonus! It measures a generous 56 in x 46 in, a good size for a chair or small sofa. The yarn is space dyed with varying shades of pink, grey & white. It cleverly produces the random colour changes every few squares which makes the checkered design really effective. No one blanket is exactly the same - you are buying a unique item! The crochet stitch I used is called Tunisian crochet which gives a woven effect on one side & a knitted effect on the other. The throw is made by working one square at the beginning & joining all the rest as you go. This gives a nice smooth result on both sides - no bulky unsightly seams on the reverse. It is finished with a neat edging in crab stitch using plain grey yarn. The colours are jewel bright & cheerful - this blanket will certainly brighten a dull winters day!
