Rag rugs used to be made out of necessity. Old scraps of fabric were cut up in the winter. Old clothing & sheets or even flour sacks. The pieces were then sewn together & woven into beautiful rugs. A person could pick out the old sundress of their daughters' that she wore until it was threadbare. Or their husbands work shirt that was washed so often it became super soft to the touch. I use basically the same process. I recycle old clothing, sheets, or anything that has a nice color. I do not buy fabric, but rely on friends & family to donate to my stash. I wove this rag rug on my 1948 Union Loom. Using 2 inch strips of fabric. It is 21 inches x 29 inches. The warp is a beige cotton. A joy to walk on, & will add some color to any room. The colors are green & yellow This is a beautiful rug & would look amazing in your home. Easily hand washed & hung to dry. Let me know if you have any questions.
