"Antique Hand-Woven Grain Sack 16""x16"

Beautiful rendition of a sign for an Apothecary's shop located in the Hotel Saint-Michel in Paris. These sacks were hand woven by the farmers' wives & families during the long cold European winters & originate from all over Europe. This cover is fitted for a 16x16 insert to be found at any store selling fabric. The back shows the standard envelope closure. (NOTE: the hem on the back flap is the original from the weaver's own hand) There are also remnants of the owner's initials just below the hem. As stated above, these are hand-woven. Slubs & slight variations in the thread tones are a part of the natural beauty of this fabric. There may also be light staining or patches.
