- Floor lamp 60 cm high 15 cm diameter made from Japanese sogara yuzen paper & depicting an entire scene. - Sogara yuzen is a hand silk-screened paper from Japan. It has long fibres making it a super flexible material. Many of the designs come from traditional Kimono motifs. - The paper has a translucent quality making it ideal for lampshades & lamps. As light passes through it the beautiful colours glow creating a stained glass effect. The shade takes on a different appearance in your home from day to night. - Every sheet of sogara yuzen is hand printed, each colour being applied separately. This artisan technique is competing in the modern world with machine production however it holds its own as far as the finished product is concerned, the quality is much finer. - I make the lamps myself in my small studio in Yorkshire.
