Archelon Ischyrus Handmade Welded Sculpture - Prehistoric Sea Turtle

This sculpture is based on pictures of museum pieces of the Archelon Ischyrus - the prehistoric ancestor of the Sea Turtle that lived during the Cretaceous period which grew upto 4.6 meters long & weighed upto 3.2 tons. This model is 1m long & nearly as wide (pose can be adjusted when welding). The body is made from multiple pieces of sheet & tube mild steel of various thicknesses hand bent, filed, sanded & hammered into shape then welded together. It has been made displaying the upper shell, lower shell with the inner skeleton visible through the shell parts. The one shown in the pictures was made for indoor display, made from mild steel & gold painted. This was to be mounted directly onto the wall but the sculpture could also suit hanging by wires or mounting on a stand, or brackets on the wall. This listing is for the sculpture finished in brushed steel & partially polished then clear lacquered - recommended for INDOOR display only. If you wanted to display it outdoors it could be given a rust effect finish then varnished. Alternatively, we could reproduce the Archelon in Stainless Steel instead - please contact us for a price! The design can be made with the head & legs/flippers in different positions if needed & different finishes, can also be made in different sizes.
