Sum up your home interior style in 3 words or less: Bold, eclectic and upcycled
What’s your favourite item in your home?: My kettle because its stylish and gets a lot of use
If your home had a theme song what would it be?: Luther by Kendrick Lamar. Bound to get people dancing in the kitchen
Toilet roll over or under on the holder?: Definitely over. Is there any other way?
Do you place your cups and glasses facing up or down in your cupboard?: Upwards

What inspired your home's interior style and how did you bring that vision to life?

My love of colour and art. I am an art collector and its core to my interior style. Also I love blocks of colour. My hallway floor is a reclaimed gym floor with blocks of colour. I’d say I dress like my home and my home dresses like me, so there is something about my home echoing my personality and personal style. The other important element for me is the type of furniture and curiosities that I have in the house. I am a lover of mid century furniture, I love that they are classic design pieces and it fascinates me that each piece carries a story of how it was used before.

What has been your biggest challenge designing your home and how have you overcome it?

Honestly money. I don’t have a big pot of it so it has been at 25 year plus labour of love.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting their own home interiors journey what would it be?

Be inspired by things but do not be dictated by trends that come and go. Also think about how you are going to use the rooms, how the light is at different times of the day and that will help you think about how you furnish it and the colours you use.

Bedroom

Is there a particular space in your home that you’re most proud of and why?

This is a difficult one but I’d have to say my kitchen/dining/living space. It used to be a very narrow and cold kitchen. Renovating the space it has now truly become the heart of the home. It’s where I cook, entertain, have parties, work and relax. Its warm and inviting and has a bright yellow rubber floor.

Kitchen Diner

Where do you find your inspiration? Are there designers, Instagram accounts or brands that influence your style?

I find my inspiration from many things, sometimes it can be tiles in a tube station or door handles that I’ve seen in boutique hotels. I also use Pinterest a lot for inspiration. The accounts I love are The modern house (I am always inspired by the houses for sale on the account), Interiors Pickle is a beautiful curated house by Trish. The constant Renovator, Sophia has a very similar style to my own. I also love Beau Archives which is a new find and a mid century dream.

What did winning Best Hallway in the uFurnish.com Home Awards mean to you?

First I was in shock because there were so many beautiful and larger hallways in the competition. Truly honoured and a validation of my creations as a designer.

What's the next interiors project you want to work on?

Next for me is the back of the house. I had cowboy builders that did a terrible job with the rendering and it's all falling apart. I want to tile it with a fluted terrazzo tile. I am being very specific and at the moment I’ve only ever seen it being sold in China. But I am sure I’ll find it.

Any other information you’d like to share about your home interiors journey?

Just that it has been the most wonderful creative outlet for things going on in mind and it’s exactly how I imagined my home to be.
