Sum up your home interior style in 3 words or less: Moody, modern traditional

What’s your favourite item in your home? My TV bed – what a genius invention they are!

If your home had a theme song, what would it be? This is a tough question, but I'm going to go with Donna Lewis – I love you always forever because I seriously love my home.

Toilet roll over or under on the holder?: Over!!!!!

Do you place your cups and glasses facing up or down in your cupboard? Facing down

What inspired your home’s interior style, and how did you bring that vision to life?

I took a lot of inspiration from American homes on Instagram & Pinterest. I started saving pictures that caught my eye to enable me to find out what my style was and then just let my creativity take over when actually bringing designs to life.

How did you balance your design goals with your budget, and do you have any clever hacks or cost-saving tips for readers?

My top tip is to splurge on the things you’re not likely to change (i.e., flooring, doors, fixtures such as taps, sockets and lighting) and then save money on the things you’re more likely to replace in time, like soft furnishings, bedding, rugs, etc. This way you don’t feel guilty if you want to switch up the style of a room with new accessories/furnishings.

What has been your biggest challenge designing your home, and how have you overcome it?

Our kitchen is relatively small. We really wanted to extend to create a big open-plan kitchen/living/dining space, but we unfortunately didn’t have a big enough renovation budget for this, so we decided to take the wall out between the existing kitchen & living room to create an open-plan space. We also added in internal bi-fold doors so that we have the option to separate off the kitchen if we wish to. This is particularly handy when we’re cooking to contain any smells!

If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting their own renovation journey, what would it be?

If there’s something you know you really want but you can’t afford it right now, it’s so much better to just wait until you can afford it rather than choosing something else. Because you’ll never love as much as the original choice, and you will eventually end up changing it anyway! So don’t waste the time and money and just be patient.

Is there a particular space in your home that you’re most proud of, and why?

Our front porch. It was a wasted space for the first couple of years after we moved in, and then we created our bootroom of dreams!! With loads of storage, my dream herringbone brick slip flooring and a gorgeous vaulted ceiling to top it off.

Where do you find your inspiration? Are there designers, Instagram accounts or brands that influence your style?

I take most of my inspiration from other creators on Instagram & Pinterest.

What's the next interior project you want to work on?

Our shower room is crying out for a makeover; that’s next on my list.

Any other information you’d like to share about your home interiors journey?

I’ve absolutely loved every second of it and I’m so excited about what else there is to come!!
