Long Coffee Table Made Of Wine Barrel Halves Oiled

This unusual coffee table with plenty of storage space is made from oak panels & two wine barrel halves. The combined parts create a classic table shape with a chic frame. For the table, we use used oak barrels that have been used to store red wine for three to five years. We then give them a second use as an individual piece of furniture. On the outside of the wood, there are still characteristic red wine stains, scratches & dents. Inside the table, you can see the red-colored wood & smell a fine red wine scent. This evaporates & disappears after a few days, however. These small flaws & peculiarities are deliberately left in the product because they are what make the piece of furniture so charming. At the barrel forge, we strive to produce high-quality products. For this reason, we only use oak wood for the coffee table, which is very high-quality & robust. The barrels are sanded down to remove dirt, splinters & sharp edges. When sanding, we make sure that the individual flaws remain & that the barrel looks chic & authentic. For stability, the barrel staves are carefully clamped together & the rings are screwed to the barrel. We apply an adhesive between the ring & the wood, which keeps the coffee table in shape even despite natural changes in the wood. Wood is a natural raw material that changes over time, for example by drying out, & can form small gaps between the staves. For the table tops, we also use oak boards & panels that look like wine barrels. They connect the barrel halves & turn a used wine barrel into a high-quality & unusual coffee table. The 120 cm width refers to the widest part of the barrel table, i.e. the belly. The table top at the top is therefore slightly smaller. Finally, we oil the coffee table with a food-safe oil. This makes it less susceptible to moisture & the wood grain becomes even more visible.
