Our coffee table with a wooden lid is a very special piece of furniture. With a removable lid there is plenty of storage space inside. Made from a real used wine barrel, this coffee table is not only practical, but also particularly chic & authentic. The wine barrel was used to store red wine for three to five years before we processed it further. Therefore, you can still admire the intensely red colored wood & sometimes also tartar on the inside of the lid table. A light smell of red wine surrounds the table, but it disappears after a few days. On the outside, light scratches, dents & red wine stains bear witness to the history in the wine chateaus. in our barrel forge, the barrel used for the table is first sanded down to remove coarse dirt & splinters from the wood & rings. Additional clamping of the individual barrel staves & screwing of the rings to the barrel wood provide additional stability. Nevertheless, over time, fine gaps can appear between the staves. This is because wood, as a natural product, continues to work even after processing & continues to change through drying out, etc. The oak lid has a hole so that it can be easily removed to store things in the barrel table. To give it a rustic look, the barrel wood is charred & oiled at the end. This makes the surface less susceptible to moisture. Glass edges & similar liquids can still be wiped off without causing major damage.
