This is a beautiful antique corner cabinet with its original label on the back of the door. It was made by the Home Arts Industries Association which dates it to the late 1880s to early 1900s. The Home Arts & Industries Association was a key part of the Arts & Crafts movement in Britain. It was formed in 1884 by the social reformer, Eglantyne Louisa Jebb, & its mission was to revive traditional crafts to help overcome poverty in rural areas. The carving on the front of the door features birds, branches & what appears to be a daffodil in the centre; it's beautifully intricate & detailed. The entire cabinet has been carefully rejuvenated & nourished with beeswax. As with all my antique pieces this has bumps & blemishes that reflect its previous life adding to its character & charm - the cabinet is in great condition given its age, it has a few dinks in both outer edges of the back panel & a couple of the decorative scallops on the base have been lost. Internally there are a couple of marks on the surfaces that may be ink - it has been thoroughly cleaned. There is an original lock but the key is an addition which does not turn the lock; it's been added to allow the door to be pulled open easily. Dimensions approximately: 70cm h x 44cm w x 22cm d Width of side panels 31cm https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SpruceTUp For the first look at pieces, please see Instagram @spruce_t_up Antique Oak Arts & Crafts Corner Cabinet With Hand Carved Design
