They are made of solid Mango Wood. We bend strips of wood & combine them in a special mould , thus the grain of the wood runs through the frame. This creates an incredibly strong product suitable for outdoor use. Mango Wood is a strong hardwood with properties suitable for outdoor use. It has a golden brown colour with rich veins of black , yellow or even purple showing off it's natural characteristics. The Mango Wood is pre-treated with friendly insecticides & fungicides before manufacturing . The Wooden Ark Hammock Stand is finished with a lacquer to preserve it & is ready for use out of the box; no need to oil & lacquer before use. The finish is what you would expect of new furniture. Note that most of our competitors offer raw wood products for you to finish yourselves. Any wooden furniture which is left outside will require some maintenance; perhaps once per year. This is to replace the natural oils near the surface which limit the absorption of water. The Wooden Ark Hammock Stand will accommodate our Large Hammocks & our Extra Large Hammocks (with or without spreader bars). Our hammocks are woven in India by artisans who have a lifetime of experience in weaving on power looms creating soft but strong, colourful fabrics. Our hammock makers use their machine sewing & rope knotting skills to create hammocks of a high standard. Sundeyz Hammocks fabrics are woven from yarns spun from recycled cotton mixed with some staple polyester to make soft but strong fabrics. The hammock fabrics are made from dyed yarns. The ropes & hanging knots in our hammocks are made from the same yarns; some are dyed & some not. Of course colour fastness is important & all of our fabrics are subjected to independent laboratory tests for strength & fastness.
