The Fairy Story Chair is a hand-carved solid oak fairy throne designed for younger children smaller in scale than our full storytelling chairs, with the same quality of carving & the same sense that something magical is about to happen the moment a child sits down in it. Its organic, rustic form feels grown rather than built the kind of chair that looks as though it might have been found at the root of a very old tree, in a part of the wood where fairies are known to gather. It is the right size for a reading corner, a nursery, a forest school clearing, or a fairy garden, & it has the presence to hold a child's attention from the moment they see it. Small enough to move between spaces but solid enough to last for years of daily use. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, & with no maintenance needed. If you'd prefer to bring out the grain & warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option 50) & we'll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish. More about the two finishes Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun & weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time & asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey.
