This is an example of the younger sibling of the more rugged square section steel lamps produced by EDL between the 1930s & 50's. This 'Silver Star' model was introduced in the 1960s when revised electrical safety standards virtually banned the use of exposed cables in close proximity to moving machinery, hence the advent of enclosed articulated joints. The wiring of this model is routed through the tubular steel arms & concealed joints, reducing the risk of accidental cable damage. For maintenance purposes the joints are accessed via the black acrylic covers. Originally built to be wall mounted, this particular lamp has been repurposed as a desk lamp by mounting it on a heavy felt lined steel base. The 2 arms are 37 & 23 cm long, it is supplied complete with bulb, 2 metres of vintage style fabric covered flex & is PAT tested. 1960S Edl Silver Star Industrial Articulated Task Lamp, Vintage Restored & Upcycled Factory Lighting
