The diameter of the lampshade shown is 30cm & the height is 21 cm. I specialise in lampshades using luxury Japanese chirugami paper as well as modern Italian paper designs. Most of the designs, papers, & linens you see in my Etsy shop can be mixed & re-combined to suit your room. Other sizes & shapes are often available. Pls get in touch with me via Etsy to discuss. Please choose either ceiling or floor/lamp use, as some of the patterns have a 'right' way up. Vivid colours & beautiful patterns, often with metallic highlights, are the characteristics of chirugami washi (Japanese paper), also known as yuzen washi. Chirugami washi is a hand-printed washi in which pigments are mixed to create each colour, & then dyed over & over by craftsmen using a number of moulds. Although this is a very time-consuming process, it produces excellent colours & delicate patterns. Although nowadays some chirugami washi is machine-printed, the paper that is used for these lampshades is carefully hand-dyed by craftsmen in Kyoto, one sheet at a time. in Japan, the origin of the paper-dyeing technique is from one of the traditional techniques used to dye kimonos & obis in Japan, & is a dyeing method that expresses various colours on cloth as if drawing a picture. It is said to have been inspired by the painting style of Miyazaki Yuzenzai, a fan painter who gained popularity in Kyoto during the Edo period, & was applied to kimono designs.
