The first of the marble lions dates back to the 2nd century BC & was owned by the powerful Medici family, Italy. The Lion guarded the steps to the Villa Medici in Rome. The second lion was made by Flamingo Vacca in 1590. The pair were then moved to their present location at Loggia Dei Lanzi, Florence, in 1799. Manufacturing Process Our sculpture is produced by a unique & proprietary dry casting process. They are made of white Carrara marble & over 90% of the finished sculpture is natural marble which gives it a look & feel of natural marble. They are finished by hand.
