Similarly to our Oak Wand, this candle-holder has been given a layered or 'scaly' surface & an English chestnut stain. Into the solid mulberry wood has been hand-carved a number of these scales, which were intended to resemble the natural sets of bands that can be seen on the body of some insects or reptiles. The proportions have been left deliberately uneven in some places to further exemplify the novelty of the piece & how many things in nature are still beautiful, despite being 'imperfect.' As is the case with all of the other items in our store, each piece has been done entirely by hand & will therefore not match any of its brothers, or anything else we have on offer. Each will be subtly different, just as the creatures after which they are fashioned are all unique unto themselves. A semi-gloss poly lends a shine to every layer as well as protects the overall piece from moisture & wear. Orders will come complete with a tea light candle, allowing for immediate enjoyment.
