How it's made: Foundry Bronze refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). Maddie passed away in 2020 at the remarkable age of 19, & the sculpture was commissioned a few years later. Her photos depict her as a joyful dog, surrounded by love & comfort at home. It was an honour to create this piece, as Maddie clearly held a special place in her family's hearts. I hope the memorial statue captures a bit of her unique personality. Tanya Russell has become well known over the last 30 years for her life-like & vibrant animal sculptures, & her abstract figurative work.
