Our coffee tables are also made from used wooden barrels. Wine barrels made of oak are traditionally used to store red wine, which matures in them for around three to five years. After that, the wood no longer gives off any flavor & the barrels can no longer be used for their original purpose. We give the barrel a second use & transform it into an authentic coffee table made of high-quality & robust oak. The red wine storage is noticeable through a slight wine smell, which disappears after a few days. Due to the individual properties of the barrel, such as red wine stains, light scratches & dents, each table is unique & has a history. The special thing about the table is its many shelves on which you can put things like newspapers, glasses & decorations. Cutouts in the lower area allow the hollow barrel to be used to store objects. The removable lid creates additional storage space, which is created by an additional shelf. The wooden lid, which, like the barrel, is also made of oak, rounds off the overall picture & represents the third storage area. in our barrel forge in Iserlohn, sanding off coarse dirt & deburring the barrels & barrel rings are part of the general upgrading process. This is how we ensure that there is no longer any risk of injury when selling. However, gaps may form between the individual barrel staves because, despite careful clamping of the barrel staves, the wood works & changes over the years. For further stability, the rings are screwed firmly to the barrel. Finally, the table is oiled so that it is better protected against moisture & gives the wood an even more rustic touch. This means that the coffee table could also be used outdoors. However, like other wooden furniture, it will weather more quickly & turn grey due to sun & rain.
