Joni Sofa

Joni the sofa was conceived during a monthslong sonic & psychic journey into Ladies of the Canyon & Blue, albums by Joni Mitchell the troubadour. I tried to make the lines of the sofa reflect & harmonize with some of the lyrics I'd heard; the dark & weight of the walnut is set in contrast to the plush & playfulness of the terry cloth upholstery, like the heaviness in Joni's words are leavened by her acrobatic fretwork & airy vocals. Black walnut frame, white ash planks from my NY farm, upholstered in Buick blue terry cloth, mortise & tenon joints, tapered legs All upholstery is done by me, by hand, without machine. The seams will be, at times, imperfectly human, upon nose-close inspection. If precise & surgical upholstering is a necessity, we have an upholsterer we can outsource to, though this will increase the price. This sofa has proven popular with cat owners/lovers - the outside sides & bottom are solid wood - which while not foolproof, often deters scratching from felines. Send a zip for a shipping quote.
