The initial idea of refurbishing old laminate flooring arose within the framework of a recycling competition. A prototype called luminat was the result. in the further development phase, the materials were adapted & reduced to the essentials, which meant that the lampshades could now be produced in small series. The resulting small series star.light consists of triangular wooden modules & is assembled into finished lights using plastic connectors & metal screws. To maintain the recycling concept, the floor laminate has been replaced with discarded wood veneer, which is used, for example, for the construction of musical instruments or skateboards, but does not meet the acoustic or technical requirements. in terms of lighting, the wood veneer can truly unleash its star potential. This is particularly evident when combined with multiple lampshades. The geometrically arranged wooden modules, which are based on parametric design, create a harmonious, yet also slightly playful lighting effect. The emerging rays of light are reminiscent of mystical sunbeams in the forest. The light slots created by the design provide additional soft, glare-free light. The warm wood tones reflect the light, creating a pleasant, natural, & inviting atmosphere. The wood is laser-cut & then handcrafted. The natural wood lamps are untreated. If desired, they can be treated with a suitable oil, which will darken the wood slightly. The colorful lampshades are meticulously glazed with natural-based paints. Since the material used to make the lampshades varies depending on availability, new types of wood & colors will also be available in limited quantities.
