Inspired by a 7,000-year-old Neolithic artifact, this seated Mother Goddess symbolizes fertility, feminine strength, abundance, & the creative power of life. Every figurine is individually handmade in my pottery studio in Poland, making each piece completely unique. Inspired by archaeological discoveries from the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture (5400-2700 BC), one of Europe's oldest & most sophisticated civilizations. These remarkable people were master potters & farmers whose spiritual life centered around the Great Mother Goddess, a symbol of life, fertility & prosperity. Authentic Decoration The decoration faithfully reproduces the incised pattern found on the original Cucuteni archaeological figurine. Each line is carefully carved by hand into soft clay using traditional pottery tools. The engraved design is then filled with white slip (engobe), creating the striking contrast characteristic of original Cucuteni ceramics. After drying, the sculpture is kiln-fired & left unglazed, preserving the warm colour & natural texture of terracotta. The matte, earthy surface allows the beauty of the clay itself to remain visible, just as in ancient pottery made thousands of years ago. Unlike glazed ceramics, this sculpture preserves the authentic appearance of ancient terracotta. Its soft matte finish highlights the natural beauty of fired clay, inviting both touch & contemplation. Handmade Process Each Venus is created entirely by hand in my pottery studio in Poland. After shaping the figure, I carefully carve the ancient Cucuteni ornament into the leather-hard clay. Every engraved line is then individually filled with white engobe before the sculpture is slowly dried & fired in a ceramic kiln. No moulds are used during the decoration process. Every pattern is drawn by hand, making each sculpture slightly unique while remaining faithful to the original archaeological design. Hight: 18 cm / 7 in Width: 5.5 cm / 2.1 in USA costumers !
