Sculpture Art Lathe Turned Circle Square Sphere Arrow Small Freestanding Wood Wooden Carved

This sculpture is a start of a new series exploring contrasts in design, textures & shapes. It is made of Maple, the interrupted sphere is made of Eucalyptus wood, the base is Chechen wood with a steel post supporting it. I wanted to show the contrasts between the circle, the inner square, the arrow formed by the square. Then the small sphere is interrupted with a textured square post within it, providing another contrast to the piece. This was created on a wood lathe. It was turned on both sides of the piece. Each side has different texturing & design to them. The piece was sanded & a multi-step finishing process was applied. Then it was moved over to the bandsaw where the it was deconstructed & then finally reassembled in a completely new concept. I have four basic goals that I strive to achieve with my work: Design & create pieces that complement the wood. Explore the concept of creating a sense of movement with an inanimate object. Design pieces in such a way as to visually stretch portions of the piece to appear either larger, smaller or a different shape that it actually is. (This applies primarily to my sculptural work & my wall hangings.) Be as ecologically responsible as possible with my woodwork. I use as much salvage as possible & much of my other material is grown specifically for commercial purposes. This piece would look spectacular in your office, dining room, bedroom or the lobby of your business. All woods can have natural cracks & voids & these are not considered defects. It was hand sculpted on my lathe by me. Like any natural wood product, it should not be placed in direct sunlight for long periods. Shipping says it takes 3-5 days to process. I am usually much quicker than that & often ship the next business day. I say 3-5 in case I am traveling out of town. All sizes are approximate & may vary by 1/8.
