Bedrooms are such personal spaces, with some of us keen on calming tones and others preferring bold colours, many opting for eclectic looks and others preferring a simple, clean approach. Wherever you think your personal style might lie, let the entrants to this year’s uFurnish.com Home Awards inspire you.
In 2025, we had an incredible set of entries for the bedroom category with a wide variety of compositions and styles to reflect differing needs. Whether transforming a dark or plain space, creating more storage or a more luxurious feel, our talented entrants have created stunning transformations.
2025's best bedroom winner, Sal Riley (@beyondtheblankcanvas), whilst utilising an overall neutral palette, added a fabulous green velvet bed. Bespoke fitted wardrobes added practicality and colour accents through the radiator colour, wall art, cushions and throws, completed this incredible look.

One of our other finalists, Daniel Bland (@bland_design), opted for a warm and sophisticated feel using rich earthy tones mixed with hand painted wall murals and dark furniture and soft furnishings.

Another finalist, Anouska Lancaster (@noushka_design), made use of bright, vibrant colours and clever tricks like wallpapering the ceiling to contrast against the natural stone of this bedroom.

It was amazing to see the variety of colours embraced by our entrants this year, with some clearly favouring a more neutral approach and others really making use of bold and bright tones. It is perhaps no major surprise that personal choice is so important in what is one of the most personal rooms in the home
Styles seen across Entrants' Rooms
In this year’s awards we have seen the full range of ultra-modern to very traditional bedroom styles, though many have beautifully blended new and old together. We have seen creative uses of colour either within a more neutral overall theme, as accents via soft furnishings and art, or with bold colour blocks or patterns to really draw the eye. Practicality has also been at the forefront this year, using free-standing or built-in wardrobes, seating and other storage to keep clutter out of sight and optimise the look and feel of the room.

What we love at uFurnish.com
Whilst our bedrooms should be calming spaces, we do love the bold use of colour, which can really pep up the décor whilst also proving that comfy doesn’t have to be neutral! We also loved the breadth of bedroom styles in the entries, proving that anything really does go in finding your own style. Lighter colours can work for both modern and more traditional rooms, whilst darker colours can give the cosy feel you might be looking for. Sumptuous fabrics were also a favourite of ours with rich velvets or knobbly bouclés adding both texture and colour to the overall look.

How to apply these styles in your home
Our bedrooms are as individual as we are and it’s the little things that often make all the difference. Personal items or knickknacks can make your décor unique and can often be the inspiration for your room update. However, bedrooms do need to be a combination of style and practicality as, after all, it’s where we should be getting our rest. A comfortable bed is essential and can be the obvious statement piece, often dictating the overall style. Velvet headboards add luxury to the overall feel and you can use complimentary accents via cushions, lamp shades, window-coverings or wall art. Neutral bedding can give you the flexibility for bolder choices elsewhere such as wallpaper and cushions, though if you prefer neutral walls, you can jazz things up with some colourful sheets.
Good storage is vital to avoid clutter and maintain that sense of order and calm, so think carefully about your options:
1. Could under bed storage work for you?
2. Would an ottoman provide both storage and handy seating?
3. How much hanging space do you need?
4. Is your chest of drawers big enough?
The size and shape of your bedroom will dictate whether you have room for additional bedroom furniture such as a dressing table or armchairs but don’t forget mirrors. These can transform a room by adding light to smaller spaces and bringing focus with a beautiful frame, as well as making sure you can check your outfit before stepping out of the house!
