Gustavian Chest of Drawers

Influenced by French culture and tradition, King Gustav III paid tribute to his time travelling to combine Swedish style with French neoclassicism. Characterised by architectural form and symmetry, and adorned with columns and detailed carvings, our Gustavian capsule collection pays tribute to the kinship that exists between French and Swedish furniture design. Combining all elements of traditional Gustavian design is the Gustavian Chest of Drawers. Featuring three modestly sized drawers, all decorated with horizontal fluting and front stepped corners, this chest is a timeless piece that will be a talking point in the home for decades to come. The drawers are each decorated with two symmetrical bow-design gold metal drawer pulls, alongside a central decorative escutcheon plate. The top of the drawers features a chamfered edge and delicate hand-carved beading; no detail has been spared in the design of this timeless piece of furniture. The items in the Gustavian capsule take shape following a sequence of production steps, mostly carried out by hand; they reflect the craftsmanship of traditional French designs whilst representing the way we live today. Characterised by its unique design, the Gustavian Chest of Drawers has been expertly constructed with enduring beauty; over time the ash wood will weather to develop a rich patina that only the authenticity of time can evoke.
