Introducing our handmade Pierre Jeanneret inspired cane & teakwood armchair, crafted with the highest respect for the original design. This chair is inspired by the famous Cane & Teakwood Armchair unveiled by Pierre Jeanneret in 1955-56 & is now displayed in museums around the world. Our version, modeled after the PJ-SI-29A, features the same sturdy teakwood construction, braided caning, 'V' shaped legs, & a slightly slanted backrest attached to the seat by supports at the bottom. All the timber used in the chairs is reclaimed from rafters of old demolished buildings & has a greater resistance to warping than naturally aired new timber. We also use long strands of cane which results in fewer knots on the chair backs. Although cane is a very resilient material & our handcrafted cane seat & back can last for several years without sagging, we highly recommend that a loose cushion be used for the seat.
